In loving memory of Chris, As I sit here reflecting on the memories we shared, I am filled with both sorrow for your absence and gratitude for the impact you've had on our lives. From the moment you walked into the shelter as a dishwasher, your warm smile and kind heart made an impression on everyone you met. Over the years, I watched in awe as you transformed Santa Cruz and the way it treated the unhoused community. Your dedication and compassion knew no bounds, and your efforts to advocate for those in need left an indelible mark on our hearts. From writing articles to opening warming shelters and tent cities, you tirelessly worked to improve the lives of others, always leading with your heart. Your unwavering positivity and belief in the power of community inspired us all. I am grateful to have known you during my own journey from homelessness to stability. Your support and encouragement never wavered, and I will forever cherish the memories of us working side by side to make a difference in the lives of others. Though you may no longer be with us in person, your legacy lives on in the positive change you brought to our community. Your kindness, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire us to strive for a better world, just as you did every day.
