James Gorden Sperling of Santa Cruz, CA passed away on September 8, 2023. JG was predeceased by his parents, David & Natalie Sperling of Birmingham, Alabama. James is survived by his brothers, Peter (Vicky) Sperling of New Orleans, Andrew Sperling of Birmingham, and sister, Elisabeth (Charlie) Jordan of Atlanta. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Andrew Sperling, Elliot Sperling, Frances Sperling, Olivia Sperling, Madeline Sperling, Isabel Jordan and Natalie Jordan.

James moved to Santa Cruz in 1988 to enjoy the beach and beautiful climate. He will be remembered for his wit and charm as well as his love for the Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead. Before moving to Santa Cruz, James grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and was a 1983 graduate of Mountain Brook High School. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at a private burial in Birmingham.
