Pam Aguilar Obituary

Pam Marks Aguilar passed away peacefully Monday, August 7th surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.

Pam was born in Manchester, Connecticut on September 26, 1947. She moved to Aptos, California with her family when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Chico State University with a teaching credential in elementary education and was also an AMI certified Montessori teacher. She taught for many years at Santa Cruz Montessori and later was a founding teacher at Main Street Elementary School. Her students were always very dear to her heart. She took an early retirement to spend time with her family. She did extensive genealogy research, documenting volumes of family history, and enjoyed spending time working and relaxing in her beautiful garden with her beloved cats and dogs.

Pam is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Shev Aguilar, her daughter Jennifer Aguilar Hay and husband Scott Hay, her loving sisters Patti Loftus and Zippy Marks. She adored her grandson Evan Marks Hay, who brought her so much joy, and will be missed by her nieces Catherine Marks Loftus and EricaAnn Loftus Strutner, of whom she was so proud. She will be met in heaven by her mother Polly “Perky” Marks, and a parade of all the animals she loved so much over the years.

Pam’s preference, in lieu of a service, is for donations to be made to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. Donations may be made online to www.scanimalshelter.org/donate, or by mail or in person to 1001 Rodriguez Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95062.
