Rosa Morales Enriquez passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on July 14th, 2023, at the age of 97. Rosa Morales was born on August 30th, 1925, in Ejido Las Flores, Pánuco, Veracruz, Mexico. She grew up along the shores of the Tamesí River with her six brothers and four sisters. At 23, she married her husband of over sixty years, Juan Enriquez. They began their lives together in a small home, later moving to a ranch on a lagoon in a house built by Juan, where they raised their eleven children.

Rosa was a woman of the earth, spending her days milking cows, crafting cheese for sale at the local market, grinding masa, and making tortillas until her 60s. She spent the past 20 years between Santa Cruz, CA, and Tampico, Mexico. In retirement, Rosa continued to cook every day, enjoyed her husband’s singing in the morning, tended flowers in her garden, and, of course, was the best abuelita anyone could ask for.

Rosa was preceded in death by her brothers and two sisters, her husband, Juan, and her grandson, Omar. Rosa is survived by her sisters Guadalupe and Maria; her 11 children and their spouses: Elena (Rigoberto), Filogonio (Munda), Rudolfo, Noé (Yvonne), Cristina, Juan (Patty), Cuca, Felipa (Steven), Lucia (Victor), Tomasa, and Olivia (Jose); 32 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to attend services at Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Crystal Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA, 95065. The viewing is on Wednesday, July 19th, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM and Thursday, July 20th, from 11:30 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. The chapel service is on Thursday, July 20th, at 12:00 P.M., with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 P.M.
