Lawrence Davis Seaman Obituary

After a short illness, Lawrence Davis Seaman, born in Little Sioux, Iowa and a longtime resident of Soquel, California, passed away peacefully at home. He is survived by 10 of his 11 children and their spouses/partners, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his wife Abigail Brown Seaman. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 61 years and the mother of his children, Elva Asay Seaman, his daughter Rita Racer, granddaughter Cortney Ann Davis and Son in-law Tony Elmer.


After growing up in and around Grand Junction, Colorado, Lawrence married Elva (Cody, WY). They soon made their way to Soquel where they expanded their family and built their home. Lawrence was an exceptional metal fabricator and builder. Many of his metal railing and stair creations can be seen in and around Santa Cruz, the Central Coast, and the western United States, at locations such as UC Santa Cruz, Lavell Edwards stadium in Provo, Utah, The Crow’s Nest, Cal Poly SLO, and numerous California Costco locations.


A service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 220 Elk Street, Santa Cruz CA on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
