Obituary of Anna Tam

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 6, 2023, Anna Tam passed away peacefully at the age of 82. She was born in Danshui, China, and is the eldest of five siblings. At the age of 16 she left China on her own for Hong Kong. Eventually she emigrated to the US with her family and settled in Santa Cruz in 1970. Anna spent the majority of her life in Santa Cruz as a hard working single mother, and enjoyed a long career at Plantronics, where she developed meaningful friendships. She valued her independence greatly, and after her retirement in 2008, she spent time gardening, taking outdoor walks, and visiting with friends. Despite her battle with Alzheimer’s in the most recent years, Anna never lost her love for music, singing, humor, and socializing. Surviving Anna are her three children: Jen (Tam) Simon, Peter Tam, and Michael Tam; son-in-law John Simon, and daughter-in-law Michele Pan; siblings: Joe Leung, Ben Leung and Anlita Ku. She was preceded in death by two sisters: May Leung and Judy Ho. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrew Olivier, Kelsey Olivier, and Matthew Simon; as well as numerous other family members. Anna was truly a cornerstone and life force of the family. We are so grateful that she paved the way for us all. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, quick wit, and love for her family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 11:00 a.m at the Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Crystal Chapel.
