Obituary of Dixie Amaya Gulyas
Please share a memory of Dixie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 30, 2022, Dixie (Amaya) Gulyas died peacefully at her home in Citrus Heights at the age of 89 years. Dixie was born and raised in Santa Cruz to Mabel (Kidder) Amaya and Clarence Amaya and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1951. After graduation she moved to the Los Angeles area where she settled down and raised her family. After her children had grown and left home, she and her husband, Frank Gulyas sold their home in La Habra and moved to Citrus Heights where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Dixie will be remembered for her close ties to family and friends, playful attitude, and love of music. She was Engelbert Humperdinck’s #1 fan and never missed a concert when he came to town. She was very much loved by everyone who knew her. Dixie is survived by her three children: Daniel Alberts of Apple Valley, Denice Nescher-Percival of Salem, OR, and Brian Gulyas of Springfield, TN. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews with whom she kept close relationships. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gulyas and two sons, Gary Revay-Gulyas and Steven Gulyas. Dixie will be interred at Santa Cruz Memorial alongside her husband, Frank, and son, Gary. There will be no service.
