Obituary of Kristine “Kris” Rae (Fox) Castro

Kris passed away Thursday, September 22nd, at the age of 68, surrounded by loved ones and in the arms of her son. Born December 8th,1953, to Emmalee “Mickey” and Bob Fox, Kris was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Santa Clara, Ca. where she fell in love with soccer and played competitively alongside her brother Jim and sister Kathy. She was one of the first females in 1973 to be asked to travel to the East Coast to coach a women's soccer team, a highlight of her young adulthood. In August of 1984, Kris married Richard Castro of Davenport, Ca. Together, they enjoyed being active, and raising their children Rachael and Derek together. Surfing, skiing, camping, lake trips and coaching their children's sports teams were their favorite pastimes together. Most recently, they enjoyed spending their time being grandparents to their two grandchildren, Dylan and Charlotte. Kris loved bowling, swimming, animals, playing horseshoes, gardening, collecting rocks and cheering on The Santa Cruz Warriors with her mother, sister, daughter and grandson as season ticket holders. Kris was a proud employee of UPS for over 30 years as a front desk clerk where she made many lifelong friends before retiring in 2014. Kris is survived by her mother Mickey Fox, brother Jim Fox, sister Kathy Goldman, husband Rick Castro, daughter Rachael Castro, son Derek Castro, daughter-in-law Dana Cooper-Castro, and her two grandchildren Dylan and Charlotte. On Friday, October 14, a celebration of life will be held for her at The Boardwalk Bowl from 11am-2pm. Come down, share stories, bowl, and celebrate the life of an amazing woman, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother and grandmother that touched the hearts of everyone she met.
