Pete, iron Pete, tiny Pete, my old friend Pete. He was a strong soul, my memories of him will bring me smiles. Peter gave me my first spiked belt I still have, got me into many music artists, got me my first paid gig making buttons upstairs for a couple seasons at the print shop. I remember being a young man and running around town with Pete for a few years, and in his presence I felt alive. Everyone really liked this guy.

Pete Ziegler 1984-2022 Approximately a week , my brothers son , my nephew, was found and reported dead . He had been living in a encampment in Santa Cruz . It has yet to be determined, however most likely resulted from drug overdose. For he was an addicted to drugs/alcohol, just like his father , mother , grandfather, grandmother and myself. He was 38 years young . I figured he would get clean by forty something . based on immediate family and myself . I don’t know whether it’s genetics or feeling broken in some way , but I can definitely relate. We never imagine that drugs or alcohol will harm us let alone kill us ….until we wish they would , because we can’t stop ourselves. I don’t know why some of us get out alive ( clean and sober) and other don’t. it’s not something one earns or is better at . It is pure Grace! Peter was a gifted , athletic, artistic, comedic, captivating, story teller extraordinaire , and compassionate. Always willing to help. He wanted to be loved and accepted ( he was , just didn’t believe it). He tried to please everyone in deed or words . Funny thing is … all he had to do is be himself! He was enough! Perfect as himself, somewhere along the way he lost that realization! He could be such a joy, oh … the stories he could tell ! Peter had been struggling for some time and had been heavy on my heart ! May he free , safe , at ease and may he know love and peace. Love ya Pete ! , like so many!
