Obituary of Reverend Jess Fearnside

Reverend Jess Fearnside, age 77 of Santa Cruz, CA passed away September 10, 2021 at his home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 15th at Oakwood Memorial Park at 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. Due to COVID, the service will be held at the graveside from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Reverend Jess Fearnside was a living legend who left a legacy of love to all those his life touched. Jess was born in Fresno, CA on February 20, 1944 and went to be with Jesus on September 10, 2021. His numerous occupations included picking grapes, working in a sawmill, and managing mobile home parks, but his most important role was as a pastor and bishop. His heart’s calling was to preach God’s Word, pray for and baptize people, teach home Bible studies, help souls in need, and touch their lives with his and God’s love. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Fearnside of 24 years. His daughters are Annette Fisher and Michelle Hagan. His son-in-laws are Michael Fisher and Greg Hagan. Jess’ grandchildren include Joshua Fisher, Kaylee Fisher, J.J. Fisher, Zachary Hagan, and Nate Hagan. Great-grandchildren are Jesse Hagan, Jethro Hagan, and Alea Fisher, who shall be born in October. Jess’ surviving sisters are Alice Fearnside, Billie Baker, and Donna Crowley. Surviving brothers include Jerry Fearnside, Jimmy Fearnside, and Tommy Fearnside. Jess truly fought his spiritual fight admirably, kept His faith, and has a crown of life and untold rewards in Heaven. He has mounted with wings as an eagle, but his legacy of love will continue to live on in all of us whose lives he touched. Santa Cruz Memorial Cemetery has been entrusted with arrangements and flowers may be sent to 1927 Ocean Street Ext., Santa Cruz, CA 95060. COVID protocols are required for attending the graveside service including masks and social distancing.
