My name is Mark Silvas. put Alan and all the guys just called me Spit. I was really sad to hear about my old friend from so long ago passing. All of my memories of my old friend Alan and the guys are all so good. I went to Soquel high school with Alan and the guys and we played music together and had some great times. I got married moved out of state and we lost contact with each other, But I have all those great memories of Alan and the guys just hanging out. We called our selfs the hot rates. Alan was a big part of that group he was always really happy smart and witty. and just a great friend and well be very much missed.

Dear Glenn, I’m so so sad about Alan’s passing. The obituary you wrote is amazing and so interesting. I can feel your loss.
The Bartz’s were our neighbors, friends and family. Yes, we were loved and truly did grow up in paradise. The entire neighborhood was our playground! Riding bikes, building forts, playing hid n’ seek... remember the garage band? Probably Alan’s creation! Even a rainy day did not keep us inside. We would strap on the skates, blast the old Victrola playing a 78 of marching band music and skate around and around in the garage.
Glenn, we are very lucky to have so many great memories. I know it hurts that Alan is gone but he lives on in our stories, memories and in our hearts.
Love, Debbie Cameron

I first became friends with Alan when I missed the bus to Scotts Valley once and he gave me a ride. I used to tease him for always getting straight A's in school. It didn't fit with his rebellious personality, but it was like compulsive for him. It worried me, and I wished he'd loosen up. He teased me for having a social life, but I think he was jealous. Once I came home from a date, and Alan had been at our house while I was gone. He left a note in my bedroom that he had fixed my stereo and tuned up my bicycle. I moved to New Mexico right after High School and once I came home from a backpacking trip and found a note from Alan on my door. He had been to Albuquerque on tour with the Doobie Brothers and invited me to come hang out. I'm sorry I missed that and missed seeing Alan again. I'm sorry you are gone, Alan.

I remember Alan as a very kind and friendly individual. We would often chat at school between classes when we would see each other or after school. I apologize if I remember wrong, but I believe he mentioned our mothers knowing each other through a part time job my mom had. I remember his love for music.
