Obituary of Clyde Nelson Smith

Clyde Nelson Smith passed away at his home in Santa Cruz at the age of 74 from complications from a stroke, with his wife, Linda by his side. 

 

  Clyde was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Donald C. and Audre M. Smith.  He graduated from Mount Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA in 1962.  He attended Yuba City College and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

 

  Clyde and Linda were married in 1981 and lived in Sacramento until they moved to Santa Cruz in 1984. Clyde worked at Furniture Warehouse and Home Space in Soquel where he worked for over 25 years until his retirement in 2012.  Clyde's hobbies consisted of crossword puzzles and online billiards.  He loved being with his family, especially watching granddaughters, Rayna and Danica's, Junior Sharks ice hockey games and cheering them on.

 

  Clyde is survived by his wife of 38 years of marriage, Linda; daughter, Shannon (Jared) Beck; brother, Donald (Linda) Smith; three granddaughters, Brianne Smith, Rayna Beck, and Danica Beck; and many nieces and nephews.  He will also be missed by his dog, Elli. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
