Obituary of Lucile Jean Dimeo

Private services will be held for Lucile Jean Dimeo who passed peacefully on Jan. 21st after a short stay at Driftwood Care Center. She was 95.

Lucile was born in Sunnyvale, CA to Joseph and Emma Braga. The family moved to Santa Cruz County when she was a child. Lucile graduated from Watsonville High School in 1941. Lucile worked as an office manager for Coast Tile and then she was a secretary at Scarborough Lumber. Lucile married Fred Dimeo in 1957.

Lucile was a very active member of the community. She was president of Santa Cruz Jaycettes and Marri-Eds Junior Women’s Club of Santa Cruz. Lucile was a board member of Miss California Beauty Pageant for many years and head chaperone for the pageant from 1955-1959. Lucile traveled around the world with her husband and their many friends from the Maroni Club of Santa Cruz.  She enjoyed attending Maroni Club and Italian Catholic Federation Branch 21 events. Lucile was an avid SF Giants fan, for many years she attended every Sunday home game as well as the 2010 play offs and World Series with her good friends Connie and Larry Montano.

 

Lucile is survived by her son Rick Dimeo of Santa Cruz, daughter Tina Skinner (Don) of Santa Cruz, son Don Gerig (Cathy) of Santa Cruz, son Dino Dimeo (Linda) of Watsonville, her grandchildren, Robert Skinner (Kylie) of Santa Cruz, Katy Skinner of San Bernardino, Christine Henkle (Bob) of Santa Cruz, Cheryl Heller (Eric) of Aptos, Don Gerig of Sacramento, Mathew Greig of Scotts Valley, Sara Fernandez (Ramon) of Aptos, Ryan Dimeo (Cori) of Texas, Niece and Goddaughter Deana Howland of Atascadero,  nephew Douglas Braga of Aromas and 17 great-grandchildren. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Fred Dimeo, sister JoAnn Conley, brother Don Braga, and her granddaughters Kelly and Jody Skinner.

Private committal service will be held for Lucile at Holy Cross Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Fred.

Lucile’s family would like to thank Dr. Mary Patz, Dr. Elizabeth Newsome and staff, Driftwood Health Care and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made, in her memory, to Heartland Hospice, 2511 Garden Rd., Suite A250, Monterey, CA 93940-5331
