Obituary of Thelma Mae Carrillo

Thelma Mae Carrillo, born in Nowata, Oklahoma on April 29, 1928 to Dee and Nellie Dicus, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at the age of 90.

 

As a young adult Thelma came to California and settled in Santa Cruz where she lived for the rest of her life. She worked in restaurants and retail shops on the Santa Cruz Wharf, Ports of Call Clothing & Gifts being her most recent location. She enjoyed meeting the many travelers over the more than 45 years she worked there. In addition, Thelma was a fashion model whose photos appeared in advertisements published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. She also loved cooking, gardening and raising Orchids.

 

Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by her children, Carole Elliott, Frank Morgan and Whitney Anderson; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Flynn, in 1999.
