Obituary of Joseph Edward Weigand

Joseph Edward Weigand went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Joe was born April 9, 1935 in Altadena, CA; served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956; attended Bethany Bible College where he met the love of his life, his beloved Dolly (Dorothy Helen Walker). Married for 30 years, she preceded him in death in 1987. Joe worked in the Carpentry Trade until 1975; was employed for the next 38 years doing the Lord's work at Missions to Japan (MTP), a Christian missions ministry. Joe was active in his church and community; and served as a Police Reserve Office for Santa Cruz County for 15 ½ years. Joe lived in the Santa Cruz area for the past 56 years. He loved life and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed daily drives to see the beauty of the ocean. For 26 years, people at Albright's Donut Shop would hear Joe walk in the front door and greet them by saying, "Good Morning folks, just another day in Paradise." Joe loved the Lord, his family and his country and will be remembered by all for his kind, gentle and generous spirit. He is survived by his son Joe Weigand Jr., (Gina), grandchildren Janelle and Joe Weigand III of Oregon; daughter Kathy Baazard, (Ray) of Minnesota; brother Robert (Deborah) of San Jose, sister Marilyn House of Gilroy; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Viewing will take place on Monday, March 18, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, CA. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, at 11:00 am at the Christian Life Center, 1009 Mission Street, Santa Cruz. CA. Internment will follow at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Life Center.
