Obituary of Marshall Lewis Phillips

Please share a memory of Marshall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marshall was 59 when he went home to see his beloved Jesus, grandmother, parents and past friends. He loved life and was always a humble man. Born in Hollywood, he was a native of Santa Cruz County. He grew up on a ranch on Calabasas Rd. He always loved football and he played high school ball at Watsonville and Aptos High. Marshall went on to later referee football and coach a number of little league teams. He loved his kids, family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, his houseboat, cars, and traveling. He enjoyed annual trips to Iowa to visit family, friends and to help in the corn harvest. Marshall was a Christian man who always forgave quickly, gave overwhelmingly and loved eternally. He was in the real estate business before working nearly 30 years at Safeway but he never gave up his passion for real estate. He obtained a lot in life and achieved success throughout, but always remained a humble man. If asked he would have told you that none of his possessions mattered because he would have given them all away. He is survived by his children Jason and Michelle, his grandkids Yvette and Elijah and nephews Pablo and Gary. Marshall was a father, a grandpa, a mentor, and a friend to many in the community. He will be extremely missed. The service, open to all of his friends from the community, will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean St., Santa Cruz.
