Obituary of Anne S. Barnett

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Silverthorne Barnett, Resident of Scotts Valley was born September 5th, 1959 in Burlingame, CA. and passed away November 30th, 2012 due to complications of breast cancer that she had been fighting for 10 years. She was one of the most tenacious advocates for staying alive in her long journey living with cancer and was a courageous warrior, always upbeat and positive, always certain that she could win the battle, never to complain, but to just deal with each crisis as it arose. Anne moved to Santa Cruz CA. after earning an AA degree in early childhood education from Lane Community College, Eugene, OR. She then earned a BA degree from Pacific Oaks College, Oakland, CA. Anne was a mentor to many during her long career in early childhood education. She was nurturing, articulate and respectful to a whole generation of young children. She was a very dedicated, compassionate, insightful and skillful teacher who won the trust and love of children, parents and coworkers. Anne's cheerful and positive personality, great sense of humor and admirable ability to work well with others were unique. She spoke from the heart and her loving kindness, openness, support and friendship was always appreciated. She was a loyal and loving mother and wife and an aficionado of really good music. She will always be pictured as dancing to bands on summer days in Highlands Park and nights at Don Quixote's International Music Hall. Her husband and son were the loves of her life, a life well lived and enjoyed to the fullest. She found beauty in every day and would embrace that beauty in such a way that she became a reflection of that beauty. Anne is a shining star that will continue to glow in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. Anne was preceded in death by her parents Marjorie Dwyer Silverthorne and George Silverthorne of Burlingame, CA. She is survived by her son Oscar Albretsen of Felton, brother Kent Silverthorne of San Mateo and loving husband Lake Barnett of Scotts Valley. A "Celebration of Anne's Life" will be held at the Ben Lomond Senior's Center in Highlands Park Sunday, January 20, 2013 starting at 3:00 PM. The memorial event is a potluck so please come and bring your favorite dish and enjoy food, drink and live music.
