Obituary of Marion T. Fuhry

Marion T. Fuhry has passed away peacefully from pneumonia and advanced Alzheimer's disease at age 84. Marion was most recently a resident of Aegis Assisted Living in Aptos, and was a former resident of Antonelli Senior Mobile Home Community in Live Oak, where she taught Tai Chi classes. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to (and pre-deceased by) Frances (nee Blaszjak) and Joseph Molenda, Marion graduated West Tech High School, and lived in the Cleveland area until permanently relocating to Santa Cruz in 2005. Marion married Edward J. Fuhry in September 1948. They were divorced in 1966 and she never remarried. Her sister Genevieve and brothers Leonard, Joe, Danny, and Earl Molenda preceded Marion in death. She is survived by daughters Joan Fuhry, of Santa Cruz, and Connie Donovan of Prescott, AZ; by grandchildren Colin Donovan of Chicago, IL, and Betsy Maddox of Long Grove, IL, and by four great-grandchildren. Marion was active in real estate in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland for 30 years. She obtained her GRI designation and broker's license, and opened up Points East Realty in 1977 at age 49 in Cleveland Hts., Ohio. She was a founder of the Noble-Monticello Business Improvement District and successfully lobbied for streetscape and safety improvements. As an active member of the Cleveland Heights Chamber of Commerce, she supported a number community and charitable causes. Interment will be private and will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio at a later date in January. A local memorial service is planned for Thursday, December 6th, at 4:30 p.m. at the Antonelli Senior Mobile Home Community clubhouse, 2655 Brommer St., in Live Oak. Those attending are advised that parking is extremely limited inside the park, and to follow on-site directions. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the local Alzheimer's Association or to Twin Lakes Church.
