Obituary of James Lester David

Jim was born in Yakima, Washington to D.P. and Betty David. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated in San Bernardino, CA from Pacific High School in 1965. During the Viet Nam War he served in the U.S. Navy for two years which included a seven month Western Pacific tour on the aircraft carrier "USS Coral Sea." Jim graduated from sheet metal apprenticeship school in 1971 and was a member of Sheet Metal Local 309 for thirty years. He worked installing commercial heating, air conditioning and clean rooms throughout Silicon Valley including the former HMT building. He married Rebecca, the love of his life in 1971 and moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains where they built their home and raised four children. Jim is probably best known for his on-going barn project and 58 Buick car collection. He is a member of both Twin Lakes Church in Aptos and Mountain Bible Church on Summit Road. Jim was diagnosed with Mesothelioma Cancer last November and fought valiantly along with a wonderful team of doctors and nurses at Kaiser, Santa Clara. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, sisters Linda Philippi (Larry) of Lake Arrowhead, CA and Bonnie Currier (Ken) of Beaumont, CA, brother Dan David (Sue) of San Bernardino, CA, children Jenny Lynn (Joey) of Battleground, WA, Sam David (Susan) of Tracy, CA, Joe David of Los Gatos, and Debbie David of San Jose, six grandchildren Justus, Coby, Adison, Evan, Juliet, Aiden, and many other relatives and friends who loved him well. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on 12/1/12 at Loma Prieta School Forum at 1:00 p.m. 23800 Summit Road, Los Gatos 95033.
