Obituary of Janet Dell McElroy

Janet slipped into the arms of the Lord on October 13th. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Janet was born on December 6, 1929 in Valley City, ND to Myrtle and Charles White. The family moved from North Dakota to Colorado when she was just a little girl. Janet traveled from Colorado to Washington DC to work for the FBI. While there she met and married her beloved husband, Silvester McElroy. They were married in 1952. Janet and Mac made their way to California and to Santa Cruz in 1962 where they raised their 3 children. Janet worked at Mission Hill Jr High, first as counselor's secretary and then Principle's secretary for a total of 27 years. She leaves behind her children, Teddy McElroy of Santa Cruz, Melody Pahel (Ken) of Soquel, and Rachele Anderson (Robert) of Eagle, ID. She has 3 grandchildren, Kyle and Kellie Anderson and Brandon Pahel. She is also survived by her sister, Colleen Gifford of Tubac, AZ and her niece Irene Franks and many good friends. An informal bar-b-que celebration of her life will be held at the family home on Sunday, October 21st at 12:00 noon. Our Mom gave us a wonderful example of how to be a loving wife, mother and friend. We are lucky to have had her in our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Santa Cruz High Band Boosters or your favorite charity.
