Obituary of Charles A. Hiatt

Charles (Chuck) A. Hiatt passed away peacefully at his home in Aptos on Sept. 7, 2012. Chuck was born June 2, 1922 in Echo, Oregon and lived a long and productive life. He was part of the greatest generation, serving in WWII as a navy pilot stationed on VC-99 carrier in the Pacific. After the war he was crop duster, then a service station owner in Central Oregon. In 1958, he moved to California to work as an Air Traffic Controller in Fremont. Upon retirement Chuck and his wife Dorothy moved to Aptos. They enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., playing golf, and entertaining friends. Chuck leaves behind his children, daughter Charlene (AJ) Laymon of San Jose, CA. and 2 sons, Jon of Dolan Springs, AZ and Cary (Linda) of Darby, MT., grandchildren Kristin, David, Paisley, Rhoan and Sandy, great grandchildren Brittany, Tyler, Joe Chuck, Madison, Jackson, Jessie and Jacob, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the Hospice of Santa Cruz County for their service and many kindnesses. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Chuck's memory be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
