Obituary of Erma Coddington

Please share a memory of Erma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On September 3, 2012, Erma moved on to Heaven to be with her Parents, Husband and Son. Erma was born on May 22, 1918, in San Francisco, CA, to Swedish immigrants Gus and Alma Skold. She went to school there through the eleventh grade until she was a senior in high school, at which time she moved to Sebastapol, CA. There Erma graduated from Analy High School and later went on to graduate from Gallagher Marsh Business School in San Francisco. She then met and married George Coddington and resided in San Bernardino, Barstow, and San Francisco before moving to Felton in 1959. There she raised her two sons, Jim and Rick, worked, played, and enjoyed the wonderful people of the San Lorenzo Valley. Erma was truly a people person, who enjoyed everyone she met. She loved reading, and was quite the sports fan, following the 49ers and Giants. Erma's biggest joy in life was being surrounded by her family. During her years in Felton, she worked at the Felton Drug Store, was a member of the Felton Community Club where she served as Secretary-Treasurer, member of the Felton Garden Club which she loved. She enjoyed playing bridge and all the activities at the Ben Lomond Senior Center, and was a member of Tops #792 of Felton, CA. In her retirement years she took the trip of a lifetime, traveling to Sweden to see where her parents had grown up, and make contact with all of her distant relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and son, Jim, and is survived by her son, Rick, grandchildren Jeanine Caughman, Jerrod and Jeffrey Coddington, great grandchildren, Banks and Elizabeth Caughman, and Daughter-in-laws, Jacque and Jeanne Coddington. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Coulson and O'Grady for helping her lead such a healthy and lengthy life. A special thank you to Mary Jo, Natalie, Amy and Brooke for their caring and loving touch. Viewing beginning at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, with services following at 2:00 P.M. at Oakwood Chapel at 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Felton Presbyterian Church, 6090 Highway 9, Felton, CA 95018, or the Felton Library Friends, P.O. Box 1135, Felton, CA, 95018.
