You're gonna be a great-grandad again, though you've always been one to me. My missus is gonna have our baby in late November and if it's a boy, which I sincerely hope cause girls are way to hard, we're naming him Patrick Arvy Lawler cause I want my son to know and carry your legacy. You're the greatest man I've ever known. You're the reason I never gave up even when all the world was against me. You're the man who taught me to be one. I love you grandad, now and forever.

Arvy, thanks for the memories. You were instrumental in my decision to get involved in Honor Flight. I am grateful to have met you. You were a true hero, even though you always said the ones left behind were, not you. Thank you. That's so inadequate, but thank you. You are already missed.

Arvy, Chance had his 5th birthday party today. It was Dinosaur-themed. That's his "thing" this year. We gave him a bucket of assorted dinosaurs with a time-period backdrop to put together. He loved it. You were there. I felt you.

I will miss the friendly wave and the called out greetings when I drove around the corner on the way to visit my mother at the Bay Avenue Senior Apartments. Arvy never failed to greet me like I am an old and trusted friend. We only talked a couple times, since I was in my car, and he was in his wheelchair there by the iron gate. But he was so friendly and interesting to talk to. He shared his wartime experiences and listened to mine. He told me I was a good son for visiting my mother regularly. I told him I loved my mother, and he said that love and family are what makes up a good life. I will definitely miss that grand gentleman.

Arvy, I only met you twice, but you made quite an impression on both myself and my husband. We had our dog Coco, a Labador, with us, and Coco went right to you. Coco has good instincts. We talked about dogs and my husband's service in Vietnam, and you thank him for his service. He said, no, it's he who should be thanking you. Then you said, "You two are two of the nicest people I've ever met." When your wife came out of KFC, you introduced us as though you'd known us forever, and that's what it felt like. She gave me one of your cards for your wonderful book. We will always remember you, through that encounter, and through your book. You were a hero, even though you said you weren't. May peace be with you.

Arvy, Oliver (the cat) slept on your pillow and in your chair. He misses you, I know he does, and that's his way of showing it. You are so missed by so many. I love you. That will never, ever change.

Arvy, you are missed with every breath I take, yet you are as close as the next breath. I will never stop loving you, and love never dies, only grows stronger with memories. You touched a lot of people, and everyone who tells me what you meant is a loving tribute to you, to your embracing everyone without judgment. Peace, my love.
Love - Wilhelmina
