Obituary of Robert Westwood

Bob Westwood passed away peacefully in his home on May 16, 2012. He would have been 90 in November. Born in Oroville, California in 1922, he graduated from Oroville High School in 1939, and then entered San Jose State College. Growing restless, he quit college and went to work at the Sacramento Air Depot as a Supply Officer. During World War II, he served as an Army Corporal in India where he helped supply gasoline to C87 planes flying "over the hump" to airbases in China. After the war, Bob returned to his studies at San Jose State, but soon grew bored and eventually went to work at EF Hutton as a Board Marker. He then graduated to Stockbroker, and worked there for 42 years, retiring in 1986. He permanently moved to Santa Cruz with his beloved cousin, Dorothy Howe, where he lived quite happily until his passing. Bob's passion for music (mostly jazz), sports, wine and movies was uniquely renowned. His vast knowledge and opinions of such subjects were sought out by all who knew him. His loving daughter, Nancy Westwood; son, Gary Westwood; granddaughter, Tisha Westwood-Valverde; grandsons, Corey and Eli Westwood; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, survive Bob. His sense of humor and passion for the things he loved lives on in all of us. We will miss him so very much.
