Larry Vince Overstreet, 56, born June 26, 1955, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home, a home nestled among the redwoods that he built for his family and grandchildren.
A celebration of Larry's life will be on Saturday, June 16, 2012, this celebration will begin with a viewing at 11:30 am-12:00 pm followed by Services -12:00 pm -1:00 pm Services will be held at the New Life Center (Root Christian Fellowship) 707 Fair Ave. Santa Cruz.
Larry was a long time resident of Santa Cruz and graduated from Bethany College in Addiction studies. He was the Manager at the River Street Homeless Shelter for 9 years. He then pursued his passion as a carpenter.
Larry married Patricia Thomas on June 21, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, sons, Lenny and Eddie Thomas, Daughter-in-law Tara, Grandchildren, Isaiah, Logan and Jayden . Sister, Patty Hall (Ron) Washington, IA, and nieces and nephews, Cheyenne (Dennis) Kiefer-Kelsi and Michaela, Ben & Kali Hall - Jakob and Ryan, Adam & Jessica Hall-Taylor, Marissa and Aleene, Chris Hall - Christopher, Nikole and Kayden.
His beloved dogs, Chico and Ralphie and cat Fuzz.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eloise and Vincent of Rock Island, IL.
Larry was a hero to his family. He will be honored as such and laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
He cared about family and his family's friends. He was always there for help and advice, helping to save other's lives, while trying to better his own. His work and love will always be remembered.
