Obituary of A1C Monika Leigh Scott Carrillo

Monika Leigh Scott Carrillo August 28, 1987 - May 19, 2018 Resident of Boulder Creek Monika Leigh Scott Carrillo, US Air Force Airman 1st Class, passed away on May, 19, 2018 while stationed in South Carolina at the age of 30. Lovingly known as "Nika", she was born in Grass Valley, CA on August 28, 1987. She graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 2006. She enlisted in the US Airforce and was in the top 1% of her class. She became an Airman 1st Class and was recently assigned to Shaw Air Force Base with the 20th Component Maintenance Squadron as an Avionics Backshop Electronic Warfare Systems Apprentice. Nika was an artist with many talents. She loved writing, drawing, cosplay and special effects makeup. She was also into health, fitness and bodybuilding. Above all, Nika was a devoted mother of two and a patient and loving wife. She was a friend to all who knew her, always gave people her full attention and was a great listener. People tended to gravitate towards her, her light and her kind spirit. Nika is survived by her husband of 9 years, USAF Sgt. Steven Carrillo; son, Shawn A. Carrillo; daughter, Mahleigh R. Carrillo; parents, Thomas & Lorene Scott; grandparents, Charles (Lyn) Scott, Louana (Nick) Hardin and Karl H. Imhof; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065 on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 12 PM.
