Please share a memory of Kathyrn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathryn Cattera passed away suddenly at her home on May 4, 2012. Kathye was a vivacious, fun-loving woman, full of spunk, who cherished her family and friends and always had open arms for more. Kathye is survived by her daughter, Kristen (Schmedes) Rinaldi, her husband of 18 years, Mark Cattera, her father Martin Gilbert and his wife Pam of Grass Valley, her son-in-law Gino Rinaldi and her niece Heather Markey of Santa Clarita. She also leaves behind her siblings, Wayne Gilbert of Indio, Henry Gilbert and Chris Mayzels of Los Angeles, Cynthia Michaelson of Republic, WA, as well as, he mother Barbara Mayzels of Los Angeles. Kathye was passionate about her animals and leaves behind her two dogs, Chaz and Deja and her cat Ziggy. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Livia, whose arrival she was greatly anticipating. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and soon to be grandmother. Kathye was an avid traveler and loved to snorkel in the tropics. She was a Ping-Pong master and a dedicated softball player of more than 40 years. Kathye was infamous among her family and friends for her one-line quips. She was always ready to celebrate with her beloved family and many friends, no matter how small the occasion. She loved cooking and especially enjoyed Thanksgiving. She worked hard but played even harder and was always known to "take care of business", which was the attitude and mantra she used to excel throughout both her life and career. Kathye was loved by so many and will be sorely missed. She will live on in our hearts and memories and will always be a part of her granddaughter, Livia Kathryn Rinaldi, who entered this world soon after her passing. Everyone who knew and loved Kathye is invited to her memorial service at the Santa Cruz Memorial ~Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, on Saturday, June 9th at 2:00 P.M., immediately followed by a potluck celebration of her life at Mark and Kathy's home. Over the recent months the most important thing in Kathye's life was the anticipation of the arrival of her only grandchild. In order to honor Kathye's love and dedication to her granddaughter Livia, and until the "529 College Education Investment Plan" with Charles Schwab is activated, a bank account has been established in Livia's name. Contributions can be made at Wells Fargo Bank [account # 2350181414] or hand delivered at the service or celebration.
