Obituary of Eric Lawrence Roland

Eric Lawrence Roland June 12, 1981 - January 11, 2018 Resident of Scotts Valley Eric Lawrence Roland, 36, of Scotts Valley, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 of a sudden illness. Eric was born in Santa Cruz, California to Lawrence and Jeanette Roland. He attended San Lorenzo Valley grade schools and graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 1999. He attended both Cabrillo College and Santa Monica City College. Eric was hired by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department in 2002 as a Sheriff's Correctional Officer and was promoted in 2014 to a Supervisor. He was very proud to be a member of the Correctional Officers Association and Peace Officers Research Association of California. Eric was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, golfing, fishing, crabbing and spending quality time on his boat. He played many years on the Sheriff's softball team and made many good memories and friends. He loved to go to San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks games and was a big fan. He always lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family and good friends. Eric is survived by his father and mother, Lawrence and Jeanette Roland, of Scotts Valley as well as his sister, Corinne Roland-Moore and her husband, Damian Moore, of Boulder Creek. He is also survived by a nephew, niece, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Eric was loved by everyone he met and will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but his friends, co-workers and Sheriff's Office family.
