Mavis Theresa Ellis October 16, 1935 - November 17, 2017 Resident of Morgan Hill Mavis Theresa Ellis, former nurse of over 40 years, passed away in Santa Cruz, CA on November 17, 2017. She was 82. Mavis was born on October 16, 1935 in Verdigre, Nebraska to Charles & Margaret (Stoural) Kocina, She is survived by her sons, Stephen Ellis and Chris Ellis; and her brother, Dean Kocina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A. Ellis ; and her brothers, Bob Kocina and Ken Kocina. "To all that had the pleasure of meeting and knowing my Mavis Ellis, we were all blessed to have known your love and passion for life. You inspired so many. You gave more than you had. In times of despair, you never lost hope of better things through your faith in God. And, in the end, you made your peace and let this world go on your terms- Peacefully in your sleep. Most of all, you chose me. You loved me. You gave your all for me, and I am so blessed to have been yours to hold and nurture. I love you mom. Our entire family has lost an amazing woman. The stories we are telling by your bedside will make all the angels laugh at how wonderful you are. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for staying with me this long. Thank You for letting me find my way. In Loving Memory of Mavis Ellis, My Mom." In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Humane Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Santa Cruz Mid-County Senior Center, 829 Bay Ave., Capitola, CA 95010.
