Obituary of Lucille M. Rudock

Mrs. Rudock was a native of Eagle Rock, California and moved to Santa Cruz in 1962. She was a member of the Santa Cruz chapter of PEO, a women's philanthropic organization, and the Trade Winds Homeowners Association, Capitola. Lucille Marion Montee married her high school sweetheart, Eugene R. Rudock in 1948 after WWII. They remained married and dedicated to each other for 53 years until Eugene's passing in 2001. Mrs. Rudock worked as a corporate secretary from 1947 until starting her family in 1951. She was a master of taking dictation by hand using short hand writing, a lost art form. For fun, the family would often try to challenge her skill by trying to speak faster that she could write in short hand - to no avail. She lived in Richland, WA from 1950 to 1962, and in Madrid, Spain from 1966 to 1970. She returned to Santa Cruz County in 1970 where she lived for the remainder of her life. After Eugene's retirement in 1982 they enjoyed the RV life travelling in the western states. She was a skilled seamstress, knitter and craft hobbyist. Many a Christmas tree in the Santa Cruz area were adorned with her unique and artistic ornaments. She is survived by her three children and four grandchildren. Her son William and grandchildren Jessica and Philip Rudock live in the Santa Cruz area. Mrs. Rudock was considered by all who knew her a sweet woman with a kind-hearted spirit. In her final months she remembered and had fond thoughts of her many local friends. She cherished your friendships and was honored to share your support over the years. At her request, no services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to the Driftwood HealthCare Center, Santa Cruz, CA.
