Obituary of Nancy Bernardi

Nancy Bernardi was born November 18, 1923 in San Francisco and died, at home in Santa Cruz, April 30, 2012. Nancy grew up in Saratoga where her family had a prune orchard. Nancy was proud to be the oldest of four girls. She is survived by two of her sisters, Estelle Carrubba and Helen Kiraly. Nancy married Henry Bernardi on January 13, 1946, they lived in Cupertino until his death in 1994. Hank and Nancy loved and raised three children, their son Sam Bernardi (Erin) of Perrydale, OR, as well as twin daughters, Kathy Ditto (Alan) of Capitola, and Charleen Brookshire (Joe) of Cordele, GA. Nancy was also blessed with and so proud of her six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; Ginny Brookshire, Todd Ditto, Claire Rose, Deena Miller, Gina Ditto, Karla Gill, and Addison Miller (great-granddaughter). Nancy's love for her family and friends was one of her greatest gifts. The only things that rivaled this love was her love of the ocean and the 49ers. Nancy will be remembered for her happy go lucky outlook on life and sense of humor. A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola at 11am on Thursday May 3, 2012. Immediately followed by a celebration of life luncheon.
