I met Gary in 6th grade. by first glance we seemed like polar opposites. He was always into sports wrestling, baseball, football, even golf if you want to call that a sport lol. Always competitive. I on the other hand was usually in the hospital with some crazy broken bone. But we grew up as best friends. Gary and his mom Jewel were my extended family, when he moved to Eugene for college, I would visit with his mom as I knew Gary was her whole world. He would never admit it, but she was his too.
Sadly, Jewel passed away a little over a year before Gary. I kind of think that one couldn't exist without the other. It sort of rocks you when someone that was witness to all of your memories from 12 to 21 is gone. It wasn't all for nothing. I miss you G Dub.

I had the honor of competing with him in High School many times. He was a fierce competitor who always forced his opponents to be at their best. We both wrestled against each other as well as played football on opposite sides of the field. He was a force to be reckoned with. Having been opponents for so many years it was great to finally be on the same team during the city/county all star football game. Out of respect for one another we exchanged logos for our helmets. I rocked an Oregon Duck decal and he represented with Bulldog red. We had a very special camaraderie together. I was happy to hear of his successes in Oregon, despite injury. I am grieved to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families. I wish I could have been a part of his celebration, he was a truly special man.

I went to school with Gary in junior high through high school. We played football together our senior year at Hoover. He was a special guy -- one in a million. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May God's peace be with you.

Hard blow to learn the sad news from Narada today that G-Dub is gone. True friend and songwriting brother, we will never forget you brother Dub! You graced our hearts with your rhymes and talents as a singer - and as a song writer - and your humanity. You made our world a better place.
RIP brother and as you sang so beautifully.
"And when we meet so high above.
This is a place called the land of love"
See you there...
