"...through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope" Romans 15:4. This scripture tells us that in the Bible we can find comfort and hope in tragic times.

I first met Penny at San Jose State in the mid-seventies, and coincidentally, later had the pleasure of her being a neighbor in the Santa Cruz Mountains for many years, up until her recent passing. Always enjoyed our varied conversations at community gatherings. A great lady — she will be missed.

Penny Terry was my friend. She was the most thoughtful person I had pleasure of knowing at SJSU. For many years, she'd send me a birthday card (my birthday is January 8th and hers was January 16). She found the most exquisite cards I had ever seen - mine certainly didn't match hers. I will always cherish my fond memories of Penny and think of her in a better place.

Penny was a great neighbor and good friend, a really neat lady. She was my co-conspirator here on Carl Drive. Our "field trips" to find tools to fight hillside erosion and our conversations about ... well, about just everything ... were challenging and usually included much laughter. I regret that she wouldn't raise goats to eat the weeds and provide good milk to make cheese; we could have made money! I miss her.
