Obituary of Nell Tola

Nell Tola passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Cruz at the age of 102-1/2. She was born at home in Holdenville, Oklahoma to J.T. Frazier & Mary Susan (Inman) Frazier. She had one brother, James Frazier and three sisters, Bea Suter, Mary Bush and Ruth Ulrey who have all preceded her in death. Nell met and married Louis Sehorn when she was 18. They moved to Pleasanton, TX where they raised cattle on their ranch for 24 years until Louis' passing in 1958. As she had relatives in Santa Cruz she moved there. She put herself through school and began a 23 year career as a Nurses Aide at Community Hospital. Nell married Angelo Tola and together they became longtime members of the Harbor Light Gospel Church. When Nell's mother became ill she cared for her until her passing in 1987. Sadly Angelo passed away a year later in 1988. She then moved to Garfield Park Village and then to La Posada where she gardened and made many friends and wonderful memories for 25 years. Nell is survived by her nephew, John Suter; nieces, Marilyn Vickers, Mattie Culver, Betty Hicks, Barbara Martin and Susan Mothershed; and numerous family and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel at 3301 Paul Sweet Rd., Santa Cruz, CA. Viewing starts at 12:00 PM with the funeral service at 1:00 PM followed by a graveside committal at Oakwood Memorial Park. In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1:30 PM at La Posada at 609 Frederick St., Santa Cruz, CA.
