Please share a memory of Stuart to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stuart J Cornick September 26, 1968 - April 19, 2012 Stuart was born at Dominican Hospital to his mother and father Mary and Keith Cornick. He moved to San Jose and graduated from Del Mar High School. He later moved back to Santa Cruz where he lived out the remainder of his life. Stuart is survived by his two sons Charlie and Jackson Cornick. His mother Mary and stepfather Fred Landsford. His father Keith Cornick and Juanita of Santa Cruz. His brother Gary and wife Antje and their two children Alisha and Shannon of Hollister. Kim Cornick the mother of Charlie in Dublin CA. Brook Bothe the mother of Jackson in Watsonville. His aunt Carol Smith and cousin Carron Guererro. His two stepsisters, Karen Hunt and Kathy Dyer and niece Jocelyn Massey. His girlfriend Kim Gregory of Los Gatos. Stu was preceded in death by his older brother Stephen Keith Cornick, a US Army helicopter pilot who lost his life in Panama in 1989. He was Stu's hero and will be laid to rest next to him. Stuart is now united in peace with his beloved brother. Stu loved sports. He won a county wrestling championship in the 8th grade and excelled in baseball and football in high school. His mom was his biggest fan and never missed a game. He enjoyed BMX riding with his brother Gary. He also loved the beach volleyball scene with his dad and brother. When Stu was 13 his dad took him on a 2,000-mile trip to Yellowstone Park on the back of a motorcycle. That began a lifelong love of dirt bike motorcycle riding which took him throughout California and Nevada with his dad and the Mountaineers MC. Another great passion was fly fishing trips with his father and brother to British Colombia, Sun Valley Idaho, and the Sacramento River. Stu was also a fixture and well known in the dirt track racing scene at the Watsonville speedway. Stuart's career was music. He formed a band and entertainment business in his 20's called San Francisco Events. He named his band Savoir Faire after a cartoon character he watched as a child. He was very successful singing for weddings, bar mitzvahs, corporate parties, and in nightclubs. One of his career highlights was performing in a wedding for a movie star in Lake Tahoe. Stuart was the kind of guy who made friends with everyone he met. We all enjoyed his high energy and friendly personality. He had five very close buddies he met in grade school: Eric Paulson, Steve Anderson, Brian Impey, Kenny Nowak, and Tommy MacKean and continued a close friendship with them throughout his life. Chris Reid, who he met through his brother Steve, would also become one of his lifelong friends. Just four years ago he met Kevin O'Donoghue who became like a brother to Stuart in such a short time. Three and a half years ago Stu met the love of his life Kim Gregory. They made great memories together traveling to Hawaii, Yosemite, and Tahoe. The true joy of his life has been his two sons, Charlie, age 9 and Jackson, age 5. Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling with them in their motor home. Never has a father been more dedicated and passionate about his children. He will be dearly missed by all. The funeral services will be held on Friday April 27, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the Oakwood Chapel 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. Telephone (831) 475-2464. The internment ceremony will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to a fund for Stuart's children can be made through his brother Gary Cornick.
