Sherman Irving Hauser burst into the world on June 29, 1937 in Cleveland to Morris Albert Hauser and Sonia Annette Waldman (Friedman) Hauser. The beloved younger brother of Beverly and Elaine, he was clearly everyone's favorite. In his early teens Sherman spent much time on his father's used car lot, which was the foundation for his acumen for in business negotiations and his ability to relate to everyone he would meet in all areas of his life. He took his financial know how off the lot and into various, interesting business endeavors. He earned his BA from Ohio University and his MBA from SFSU. He worked for the Peace Corps as the Director of the Poverty Program in Visalia, was Director of Career Counseling at UC Berkeley and UCSC where he was dubbed the "Cool Counselor." An entrepreneur by nature he became involved in a variety of businesses and supported many others in launching their dreams. Perhaps most interesting in his career was importing BREWKING, a home brew kit imported from Great Britain. In 1984 he supported Marjorie in the founding of Data Distributing in Santa Cruz, which is still going strong today. Sherman married the love of his life, Marjorie Fisher Kettles Hauser in 1985. They had many years of love, travel and laughter together. Sherman had a quick wit and an infectious sense of humor. You could always expect to laugh during conversations with him. Moreover, Sherman was a caretaker. Always doing what he could to improve people's lives. Travel and enjoying food, friends and family were among his favorite activities. Sherman went to join his parents and sisters suddenly on June 16, 2017, 2 weeks short of his 80th birthday. Sherman was a unique individual, incredibly generous, humorous, and supportive. He was loved by so many people, and will be missed by everyone who was fortunate to know him. A memorial Celebration will be held at Pasatiempo Inn on July 2nd 12:30-4:30PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sherman's memory preferred to "Rising International" or to the "SPCA".
