Obituary of Charles Lindberg

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles "Chuck" Lindberg passed Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Dominican Hospital at the age of 82. He will be missed by his many friends, his sons John and Dan, and Sharon, his wife of 56 years. He was born in Lockport, Illinois to Florence and Sibley Lindberg, along with his fraternal twin brother Richard in 1934. He earned his degree in pharmacy from the University of Illinois. Soon after graduation he left the cold winters of Illinois, moving to California where he served as an Army pharmacist at Ford Ord. There he met his wife Sharon, an army nurse on the base. Married in 1961, they shared a love of nature and spent their honeymoon hiking and camping all over California. They settled in Upland in Southern California for the next 12 years where Chuck worked at Gemmels pharmacy until 1977. Moving to Ben Lomond, he purchased Crown Drugs in Santa Cruz, which he operated for over 20 years. The motto for Crown Drugs was "We Like People". A simple slogan but a perfect fit for a man who made friends easily and had a big smile for everyone he met. He enjoyed being able to help people and loved being a pharmacist. Even after closing Crown Drugs, he worked part time until the last week before his passing. He was honored by California for service as a pharmacist for 50+ years. His sons followed in his footsteps. John is a pharmacist and Dan is a pharmacy technician, working together at Watsonville Pharmacy. Anyone who knew Chuck knew how proud he was of his boys. He had many hobbies over the years. He loved to fish, teaching himself and others to tie homemade fishing flies. He loved fishing with Dan, especially their annual trips to Clearlake to hunt bass. An avid model airplane enthusiast, he built and flew remote-controlled airplanes and loved seeing vintage planes at air shows. Above all, Chuck was a warm, gentle, honest spirit who always found the good in people. As a Christian he was certain of his heavenly fate. He lived his faith not just in words but by example. Chuck was blessed with a long life, a profession he loved, and a wife and children who cherished him. Nothing made him happier than being with his kids and family, and he put them before himself.
