Daughter of William Wallace Crawford and Esther W. Crawford She was born in St. Louis Mo. Where she met her husband, William J. Kieffer, of 66 years. They moved to California first in 1950, Where William was stationed at Edwards Air Force base, Then permanently in 1962 where William worked for Lockheed for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by her Daughter Debra J. Kieffer in 1980, her brother Donald in 1993, & William in Nov., 2016. She is survived by her 3 living children; Karen Brandt, William Kieffer Jr., & David Kieffer, 8 grand children, & 9 great grandchildren. She was a homemaker, but also was a Certified Nurses Aide and worked for Visiting Nurses Association for about 5 years. She was active in the Ben Lomond Senior Center bridge club, & the Felton T.O.P.S group. Her & William had been very active members of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1976 until the last few years. She loved fishing, photography, gardening, & attracted lots of birds & Hummingbirds to her back yard. Joy is SUCH an appropriate name for her! She is truly dearly loved by all that knew her. She was our rock, our cheerleader, our shoulder to cry on, & an angel like Matriarch of the family. We will truly miss her the rest of our lives. Her faith in the Lord was very strong & she very much looked forward to a big family reunion in heaven! Her two favorite passages she wanted everyone to memorize: "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your god. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." ISAIAH 41:10 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 Services will be as follows: Graveside service on Saturday, June 17th at 11 A.M. at Oakwood Memorial Park, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd. (past the entrance to Chaminade & on the left.) Memorial service to follow at 1 P.M. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 801 High St. in Santa Cruz. All are welcome to both or either service.
