Obituary of John Bonnie

Resident of Scotts Valley John was born in Rhinelander, WI. As a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent four years as a radio man in the Air Transport Squadron .He was stationed at Moffett Field, CA where he met his wife, Karen (Carson). They were married in 1952. After his years in the service, John and Karen moved to Kalamazoo, MI where John completed his degree in Paper and Pulp Technology, at Western Michigan University. He began his career in design, production and sales in the packaging industry, in Washington state and soon returned to sunny California. The family built their dream home in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1975. When John and Karen moved to Montevalle in Scotts Valley in 1999, John continued his love of working outside by helping with projects like the rocky creek below The Mill Wheel. His other hobbies were golf, pool, gardening, poker and traveling.John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Karen, his daughter Diane Walsh (Tom), son Mike Bonnie (Sandy), daughter Lisa Kendall (Bill), son David Bonnie (Julie), his eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren .A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 24th, at the Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel at 1pm.In lieu of flowers the family suggests a gift to your favorite charity or to Montevalle with the designation of "Trees-John Bonnie".
