Obituary of Rosemary Coron Llewellyn Rovick
Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 22nd, at the still young age of 63, Rosemary Coron Llewellyn Rovick, passed from this world and entered into that beautiful place where all people who live, (and more importantly) give of themselves and love full tilt, get to rest and understand what their lives meant to the rest of us remaining.
She was born in San Francisco, September 7th, 1953. The year of England's coronation of Queen Elizabeth, for which her mother Margaret proudly gave her her middle name. A California girl, she spent her early childhood in Menlo Park and Sacramento. She then moved to Capitola and eventually Westside Santa Cruz with her family.
After graduating from Santa Cruz High School, Rosemary continued her education first at Cabrillo College, then UCSC, and received her Baccalaureate from New York's Cornell University. She went on to graduate from Cornell Law School.
To help pay her way she worked as a carpenter and job site supervisor for Bob Leathers Creative Playgrounds. There she supervised 100's of volunteers building community playgrounds across the U.S. and abroad.
Upon completion of Law School she returned to Santa Cruz and passed the California State Bar Exam. Settling in Watsonville she began her career as a research attorney, first for the Superior Court of San Jose, then switching to the Superior Court of the County of Monterey. Later she would move her job back to Watsonville as she joined the Grunsky and Assoc. Law firm.
But this was only a part of who Rosemary was. Active in many sports (tennis, cycling, running), She also traveled globally and gave her time and talents to many Community organizations, Project Purr, Wetlands Watch, Watsonville High School Mock Trial team, among others. She carefully cultivated her relationships with her 12 nieces and nephews.
Always looking out for the least, she had a special place in her heart for all creatures. She rescued cats, dogs, native wildlife, gophers (to her brothers great chagrin) even spiders and earwigs.
As we began the process of letting go ,the understanding of how far her passion and compassion reached, came to us from all directions. "She was an amazing person", " One of the finest people I have ever met","A "class act" in all respects",were just a few of the many words of praise for her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leif H. Rovick and Margaret G.P. (Llewellyn) Rovick. She is survived by 2 older sisters , Avril (Hendrickson), Bridget (Dumas)and 1 younger brother, Leif (Hal) Rovick along with 12 nieces and nephews.
