Obituary of Glenda Ann Thomas

Please share a memory of Glenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glenda Ann Thomas touched many lives with her kind and loving spirit. She kept her life simple and her thoughts positive, even in the face of appendix cancer. Glenda, who was sober for 32 years, was a wonderful role model of living life to its truest potential. She had a profound love of nature and led a spiritual life rather than a religious one. She spent many hours outside in the garden, enjoyed spotting deer and other wildlife in the local coast redwoods, and especially loved watching for dolphins and whales near Sunny Cove and other favorite spots along the Santa Cruz coastline. Glenda appreciated a wide variety of music both live and recorded but she especially liked to read. She enjoyed the kinds of books that expanded her thinking and fed her spirit. A native of California, Glenda was born in Madera and grew up in Merced, CA. She moved to Sacramento in the 1970s and worked for McClellan Air Force Base as a woodworker, aircraft electrician, instruments technician and in the personnel department. When the base closed, she went to California State University, Sacramento where she earned a Master's Degree in the field of social services. Her heart's desire was to assist others in attaining their goals and ambitions. She is survived by her partner of 14 years, Rae Ditty of Santa Cruz; her mother Crystal of Merced; brothers Larry of Merced and Fred of Las Vegas, NV; sister Gwen Campbell (Vincent) of Rio Dell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her father Lester Thomas preceded her in death. Glenda wished that no services be held. She loved animals, nature, and her life of recovery and the family would welcome any donations made to a women's recovery organization, land or ocean preservation efforts, or the SPCA.
