Obituary of Susan Wells

Susan Elaine Connors (Willis) Wells, born December 23, 1945, resident of Watsonville, California, went home December 8, 2011. She fought a courageous five and a half year battle with cancer. Though it seems at the moment that cancer has won, Susan is dancing on the streets of heaven with her Savior who overwhelmed with His love several days before her death. Susan graduated with a bachelor's degree from Hayward State and a master's degree in counseling from Santa Clara University. Susan functioned as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist for many years in the state of California, primarily in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties. She also functioned in other capacities having secured contracts with the US District Courts working with paroled inmates. Susan had several small private counseling programs, and at one time worked with Santa Cruz health services as chair of the drug commission. An avid antique lover and collector, Susan bought and sold unique furniture, china, glassware, and other items on the internet and at a local co-op. Her other interests included auctions, interior decorating, Christmas ornaments, the Rolling Stones, sports cars, and dogs. Susan is survived by loving husband, L. Barry Wells, and her beloved Sammy, a 130 pound German Shepherd who believes he is a lap dog, and dearly loved. A memorial will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial - Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11 am. Susan would be honored by sending donations to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066 whose care and service helped her in her final days.
