Robert Thomas McGowan Obituary
Robert McGowan passed away November 11, 2011, due to complications related to Lymphoma. Robert was born in Santa Cruz, grew up in Almaden and spent many summers enjoying Clearlake where he developed a passion for waterskiing and fast boats.
Robert returned to Santa Cruz as a young adult and worked as a machinist at Cabrillo Auto Parts, Bob's Machine Shop, Paul's Automotive, Andy's Auto and the City of Santa Cruz working his way to Service Supervisor before retiring.
Robert will forever be fondly remembered for his witty sense of humor and exceptional intelligence. One of Robert's all time favorite activities was working on the pit crew for the race boat 'Color Me Gone' racing at National Jet Boat Association events. Robert enjoyed building custom boats and cars, spending time with family, friends and all of his special animals.
Robert is survived by his wife Julie McGowan, his sons Randy McGowan and Christopher Fulmer, grandchildren Star McGowan, Christopher Pike and Jeanette Pike and three great grandchildren. His son Steven precedes Robert in death.
Honoring Robert's request no services will be held. The family would like to thank the PAMF Infusion Center staff and Dr. Glenn Wong D.O. for their unwavering dedication and care provided. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in his honor to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation: http://www.pamf.org/giving/how/tribute.html
