Obituary of Helen Charlotte Lyons

Helen Charlotte Lyons, 89, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2015 at her home in Capitola, California. Helen was born April 16, 1926 and raised in Montague California. Upon completion of high school, she moved to San Francisco where she studied to be a dental assistant. She worked in this role until she met her husband, William Joseph Lyons, moved to Oakland and settled in San Jose. Together they provided a loving home and raised their three daughters. Helen was a gifted homemaker and worked in the local school district. At the death of her husband, she moved to Watsonville, Santa Cruz and finally Capitola. In this area, she earned her real estate license and worked hard in supporting herself. She created many treasured items and memories with her sewing, crafting, porcelain work, gardening and cooking. She loved her Capitola home and neighborhood which she shared with her beloved dog, Tuffy. She leaves many loving memories to be cherished by her daughters and families: Sharon Spencer of Morgan Hill, grandson Will Spencer (Patty) and granddaughters Mandy La Marca (Anthony) and Meghan Bailey (Josh). Loreen and Mike Wade of Bonnie Doon, grandson Lee Wade (Coreen) and granddaughter Lindsey Taquino (Chris), Beth and Rick Hornbeck of Antioch, and grandsons Kyle (Katy) and Taylor Hornbeck. She was also delighted by her great grandchildren: Diana Vazquez , Will Spencer, Audrey and Abby La Marca, Keiana, Joiya, Brie, Brandon and Charlie Bailey and McKenna Wade.
