Richard Anthony Dwyer, a 3rd generation Californian, was born in Riverside on 11/24/1934. He died peacefully at home in Scotts Valley on March 16, 2015. Richard was a retired English professor, having taught at Purdue Univ., West Lafayette, IN, the University of Florida in Gainsville,FL and Florida International Univ. in Miami. He is the author of Boethian Fictions and co-author of Songs of the American West, The Songs of the Gold Rush , Lying on the Eastern Slope: James Townsend's Comic Journalism on the Mining Frontier, Sagebrush Trilogy, Death Valley Lore : Classic Tales of Fantasy, Adventure, and Mystery, and Dan De Quille, The Washoe Giant: A Biography and Anthology. Richard leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Roxanne Dwyer of Scotts Valley and his son, Philip Dwyer of Santa Clara. At Richard's request, there will be no services. Because Richard contributed to many charities, contributions may be made in his name to your favorite charity
