Obituary of Antonia Torres Medina

Services will be held on Friday for Antonia Torres Medina. Antonia was born on June 13, 1913 and passed away at home on February 6th among her family at the age of 101. She was an amazing, loving, and funny woman with the strength and life of a young adult. Antonia was born in El Valle, Michoacan to two loving parents, Isidro Torres and Dorotea Medina. She married at 20 years old to Apolonio Lombera, a widow, who had 7 children of his own. Together they had 5 children. In total, she was a mother to 12 children. After losing her husband and second eldest child she came to the United States to live with her daughters and son. She first lived with her son in Redwood City. Then she lived with her daughter in Felton for a couple of years. She then moved to Santa Cruz with her youngest daughter until her passing. Her hobbies were knitting and gardening. She spent almost every day outside gardening. She was extremely attentive to her roses and they bloomed beautifully. She spent every Sunday reading her bible. Antonia is survived by her four children, Gilberto Lombera, Teresa Garcia, Mario Lombera, and Maria Antonia Mendoza. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, more than 10 great-grandchildren, and a couple great-great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz on Thursday, February 12, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., a rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 13th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 515 Frederick Street, Santa Cruz.
