Obituary of Geoffrey Michael Loftus

Geoffrey Michael Loftus, 63, of Pajaro Dunes passed away on January 20th of a pulmonary embolism. Geoff was the son of Lois and Don Loftus of Palo Alto. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara. An avid outdoorsman and graduate of National Outdoor Leadership Society (NOLS), he taught mountain climbing and guided river-rafting expeditions during school breaks. Geoff began his career in banking in 1975 with Monterey Savings and Loan, where he was VP and Manager of the Santa Cruz branch. In 2007 he was a member of the start-up team of 1st Capital Bank in Monterey, and served as Chief Credit Officer. In 2013 Geoff joined Santa Cruz County Bank as Chief Credit Officer. Geoff was actively involved in community organizations, serving as president of Kiwanis of Santa Cruz, and Director and Key Man of the Year, Jaycees of Monterey. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and the Pacheco Club. Geoff loved spending time with his family skiing, sailing, and travelling together. He is survived by his wife Patti, his daughters Catherine and EricaAnn, his siblings Kate Fahl, John Loftus (Lisa) and Ken Loftus (Becky). Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 at Santa Cruz Memorial, Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz. Donations in lieu of flowers to Boys & Girls Clubs or the Sierra Club are appreciated.
