Obituary of Kathleen Ellen Gregg

Kathleen (Kathy) passed away peacefully Saturday amongst friends and family. She was a gentle caring soul with a strong Irish spirit that endeared her to those around her. Kathleen was born in Sunnyvale, CA, she lived in several cities with her parents sometimes helping her father in his restaurant ventures. In 1939 she was working in Santa Cruz at Jack's Lunch when she met the love of her life, Benjamin Gregg. Soon she realized her childhood dream of becoming a wife and mother. Kathleen and Benjamin married and started a family in the bay area, settling back in Santa Cruz in 1950. Except for a few years venture into the Sonora area Kathleen has lived in Santa Cruz since that time. She spent the last five years of her life at Kindred Nursing Center where she received loving care from some of best nurses and aides this side of heaven. Kathleen is survived by her sister Karleen Leaf, son Ben Gregg, daughter, Jacqui Waller, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Her husband Benjamin, her brothers Jack Croall, Kenneth Crowell, and sister Claire Croall, preceded her in death. Friends and family are invited to an informal service and celebration of life at 2:00 PM on Thursday Jan. 8, 2015 at the Casa La Familia Clubhouse, 2320 7th Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr. Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
