Obituary of Cynthia Gay Cotter

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
"You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived." Cindy died at home with friends after a long illness. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Cindy attended school in Palo Alto and graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1962. Cindy was the first woman general contractor in Northern California. She was a member of the Women's Forum West since 1980, and was a member of the International Women's Forum since it was founded in 1985. The Women's Forum is a group of high achieving women. You must be appointed to it, and you must show that you have community activities in addition to your work. Cindy was an active volunteer with the Marin County Free Library for many years. She was also a member of Charter 100. For fun, Cindy played in a bridge group for over 30 years and studied Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging. Cindy was well respected and loved by many. Her parents, Ruth and William Cotter, and her cousin Betty Murray preceded Cindy in death. Her cousin Bill Murray, his daughter Tami Agnew, and several second cousins survive her. Cindy was devoted to her god-daughters, Marisa Binder and Diana Daily. At her request, there will be no service. Contributions can be made to the Marin County Free Library.
