Obituary of Carmella Beatrice Harron

In Loving Memory of Carmella Harron, who passed away at Dominican Oaks in Santa Cruz, on November 25th, at the age of 87. Carmella Harron is survived by her two sons: Gery Anthony Harron; Frederick Joseph Harron (Rick) with his wife Mimi and their son, Mark; her brother Alfred Alongi and his wife, Regina; their children, Annamarie, Krista and John. Carmella was born to Alfonso Alongi from Sicily, Italy and Sarah Alongi from Shreveport, Louisiana who settled in Niagara Falls, New York. Her siblings were Vito and Alfred Alongi. Vito died at the age of 7. In June of 1944, Carmella with her parents and brother Alfred moved from Niagara Falls to Fresno, California. After graduating from Fresno High School, Carmella worked over 20 years for Bank of America as a Teller where she met her husband, Frederick Harron, at the age of 24. Fred and Carmy lived out their lives together celebrating 52 years of marriage until the death of her husband in September of 2001. Carmella was a devout Catholic, taught catechism classes, and was active at her previous parish, Sacred Heart Church, in Fresno as a treasurer for the Italian Catholic Federation. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and sincerity throughout her life. In 2004, Carmella moved to Dominican Oaks Retirement Community until her death. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dominican Oaks and all those who lovingly cared for Carmella over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Monterey, 922 Hilby Ave., Attn: Development, Ste. C, Seaside, CA 93955. SERVICES: Rosary on Wednesday, December 3 at 7 PM at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz and a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday December 4 at 10 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church 7600 Soquel Drive in Aptos.
